I was asked by one student where to order tone guards:
http://home.earthlink.net/~typhill/

I am building a teardrop/flat-top mando. Been at it forever, just dawdling
along. I have sides bent, neck cut-out and shaped, top and back cut-out and
ready to glue in place, and now I need to cut the sides down. I need a little
advice...

The sides for the teardrop are not the same width all around. The mando
thickness varies like wedge. The sides need to be trimmed down from 2 inches
wide at widest at heel end, to one inch at narrowest at neck end. I hope this
makes sense. What I need advice on is how do I mark out the sides for
cutting? It is not a straight line around the circumference from thickest to
thinnest. Anyone have any good ideas?

The neck looks great by the way. I hand carved the whole darn thing out of a
block, as I don't have access to a bandsaw to do the big cuts. Made of
Tasmanian Oak, light in colour and light by weight. Straight grain, hard and
works well under rasp, coping saw and sandpaper!
